The National Electric Drag Racing Assossiation is a North American-based racing league for competing EVs against each other and against current high performance or classic muscle cars. Their goal is to show that electric cars aren't just golf carts, but can instead be high performance machines capable of out-accelerating most current production cars today. Examples of this are the Maniac Mazda[link], a Mazda RX-7 which can achieve 1/4 mile times of under 12 seconds. Another example is [White Zombie], a converted Datsun 1200 sedan which can win against a Dodge Viper and has recently broke 100 mph and into the 12 second range for the 1/4 mile.
