National Youth Agency

The National Youth Agency (NYA) is an independent public agency in the United Kingdom which deals with policy development and providing publications and information services to youth workers in the field. It gets its funding from a number of sources including the Local Government Association and the Department for Education and Skills.

Employing over sixty people, it is based in the Humberstone Road area of Leicester, to where it relocated from its former home on Albion Street, near the Leicester City Council offices, in August 2004.

The Chief Executive of The National Youth Agency is Tom Wylie who received the OBE in 2003.

Until December 2002, The National Youth Agency published its own magazine, Young People Now, but this was then sold to Haymarket Publications, The National Youth Agency works closely alongside Haymarket Publications and continues to write for Young People Now.

Among The National Youth Agency's employees is journalist Steve Beebee, better known for his work with rock bands (Kerrang! magazine) and on radio.
