Naval Air Station

A Naval Air Station is an airbase of the United States Navy. Such bases are used to house Naval Aviation units as well as port facilities for aircraft carriers and their support vessels. Major active Naval Air Stations include Naval Air Stations Brunswick, Maine; Oceana, Virginia; Jacksonville, Florida; Pensacola, Florida; Corpus Christi, Texas; North Island, California; Point Mugu, California; Fallon, Nevada; Whidbey Island, Washington; Keflavik, Iceland; and Sigonella, Italy. Reserve bases include Naval Air Stations New Orleans, Louisiana; Fort Worth, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Willow Grove, Pennsylvania; and many airports and airbases around the country.
A slightly lower level of airbase in the Navy is the Naval Air Facility. An example is NAF Atsugi, Japan.
