Nayarit is a state on the central Pacific coast of mainland Mexico.
Nayarit is bordered by the states of Sinaloa, Zacatecas and Durango to the north, by Jalisco to the east and south, and by the Pacific Ocean. The Islas Tres Marías in the Pacific are part of the state of Nayarit.
The capital of Nayarit is Tepic. Also in Nayarit are the cities of Acaponeta, San Blas, Tecuala, Zacualpan, and Tuxpan, as well as the island settlement of Mexcaltitán.
