Negombo
Encyclopedia : N : NE : NEG : Negombo
Negombo is a small town of about 65,000, approximately 50 km north of Colombo in Sri Lanka. It is located at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon. Negombo has a small port and its economy is based on tourism and fishing, though it also produces ceramics and brassware. Sri Lanka’s major international airport is on the outskirts of Negombo. The hotels on the main strip of Negombo are often crowded with European tourists and don't always offer the best value. But travelling just a little bit north rewards the tourists looking for more peaceful options.
