Nepenthes campanulata

Nepenthes campanulata (Late Latin: campana = bell) is a lowland Nepenthes species native to Borneo. The plant was described in 1973 based on a single specimen deposited at the Singapore Botanic Gardens herbarium. The original colony from which the type specimen was collected was destroyed as a result of forest fires between 1991 and 1992, and it was uncertain whether the species had survived or had in fact become extinct. However, it was rediscovered in 1998 by Ch'ien Lee on the limestone cliffs of Gunung Mulu National Park, more than 400 km from the type location. The species produces only one type of pitcher and does not climb.
