Encyclopedia : N : NE : NEP : Nepenthes distillatoria
Nepenthes distillatoria (Latin: destillatio = distillation) was the first species of tropical pitcher plant to be named. It was originally described by H. N. Grimm in 1682 under the name Planta mirabilis distillatoria. Linnaeus used the original species epithet when naming N. distillatoria in 1753. N. distillatoria is endemic to Sri Lanka and is interestingly the only Nepenthes species recorded from the island.
