Net10 Wireless

Encyclopedia : N : NE : NET : Net10 Wireless

right Net10 Wireless or simply Net10, a mobile virtual network operator, is a wireless offering prepaid GSM wireless service in the United States. The service allows a customer to buy airtime units to use on the mobile phone at various prices. The service is provided by TracFone Wireless, which is a subsidiary of wireless provider América Móvil.

Rate

Net10 Wireless offers prepaid service at a flat rate of 10 cents per minute, with no roaming or long distance charges. Currently, this is the lowest rate offered by any prepaid wireless provider; Cingular's Go Phone Pay As You Go service is also 10 cents per minute, but charges a rate of $1 on any day that you use your phone. Text messaging costs 5 cents per message.

Motto

Net10 goes by the motto, "Pay as you go made simple". This refers to the simple 10 cents per minute and 5 cents per text message you send. This is all you pay unless you purchase extras like ringtones, etc.

How it works

Once a user purchases a Net10 or unlocked mobile phone, the user can add airtime by one of three ways. The user can call a toll free phone number, purchase a card at a retailer, or purchase minutes on the internet. The rate is 10 cents a minute, and cards range in increments from $30 to $300 (3000 minutes/one year of service). Text messaging is 5 cents, and certain phones have additional capabilities such as ringtones.
