Route description
Much of the route parallels Interstate 88. It services the cities of Binghamton, Oneonta, Cobleskill, Schenectady, and Troy, along with many smaller communities. NY 7 junctions with Interstate 87 (the Adirondack Northway) as EXIT 7. This is a funny occurrence as EXIT 7 is route 7. I-87 also has this exit/route relation in Westchester County, NY at EXIT 9/US Route 9.Major intersections
