Nightscream

Nightscream is the name of two characters from the various Transformers series.
Nightscream was on Cybertron when Megatron's virus hit, and thus was affected by it. However, while fleeing the Vehicons, Nightscream fell into a cavern and woke up as a bat. It was later revealed that Nightscream's inbuilt DNA scanner had copied a nearby skeleton. Nightscream managed to survive the virus by eating fruit from a mysterious tree located in the caverns. He first encountered the Maximals while spying on their transformation training.
After befriending Primal and his crew, he led them to the tree, of which everyone but Cheetor sampled. The fruit affected the others, causing the primal sides of their beast modes to take over. Cheetor, unaffected, destroyed the tree during an attack by the Vehicons, hoping to restore the others. As Nightscream wailed in despair, Primal reformatted him, giving Nightscream a new body while at the same time leaving Primal extremely weak for a long period afterwards. With his tree destroyed, Nightscream joined the Maximals.
Nightscream brought a childish attitude to the team, serving as the rookie and often the one everyone had to get out of his own mistakes. Nightscream was still a formidable force, however, with his sonic screams and the power to drain energy from his enemies.
Nightscream developed a friendship with Savage/Noble, sensing a kindred spirit in the mutant Transformer. When Noble died attacking Megatron, Nightscream attacked the Vehicon leader in rage, depolarizing his Spark. Afterwards, Nightscream participated in the final battle against Megatron, and his Spark was removed but returned when Megatron fell and Cybertron was reformatted.
According to a FAQ on Bob Skir's web site "Hey, I argued till I was blue in the face for our new bat to be a female (in my mind she was Newt from Aliens. Now, instead, he's John Conner from T2 !). So.... if I had my druthers, half the cast would be female!"
Nightscream was voiced by Alessandro Juliani. In Japanese version,he was by Nobutoshi Kanna and he talks in the tone like an woman.
Transtech
After the Beast Machines line ended, Hasbro planned a follow-up series called Transtech. The Transtech concept was a line intended to take Transformers to their most futuristic. Hasbro commissioned sets of designs from Draxhall Jump. The series was supposedly to bring back some of the characters who died in Beast Wars along with some Generation 1 characters, all in new, techno-organic bodies, though with vehicle alternate modes instead of the animals used in Beast Machines. Many concept sketches and even a few toy prototypes were made, but Hasbro scrapped the idea in favor of bringing to their markets as .
Concept sketches or prototype toys have been seen for Blackarachnia, Cheetor, Depth Charge, Megatron, Nightscream, Optimus Prime, Scavenger, Shockwave, Silverbolt, Soundwave, Starscream and a new character called Immorticon. There were also rumors of a Transtech Dinobot.
Nightscream is also the name of a Mini-Con in the later toyline, a repaint of the Mini-Con Oval. He transforms into a purple sports car, and is partnered with the Autobot Airazor.
Motto: "I hate the sound of silence."
Bio: Nightscream is loud, undisciplined, and unprofessional, the complete opposite of his Autobot partner, Airazor. He yells at the loudest volume possible, scoffs at direct orders from authority figures, and generally makes himself a nuisance to most of the older, more serious-minded Autobots he works with. Although Nightscream tends to enjoy making things difficult for Airazor, his devotion to his more mature partner is unquestionable. Nightscream never says it, but it's obvious to all those who see him snap to attention when Airazor is threatened. Following Airazor's transformation at the hands of Unicron, a despondent Nightscream has vowed to find some way to bring his partner back.
Weapons and Abilities: Subject transforms into an Energon-powered racecar that can reach speeds of up to 190 mph. In his vehicle mode, he can emit a high-pitched tone that can deafen or even physically damage targets in its mile range; the effect is stronger the faster subject drives.
Weaknesses: Subject's sonic attack is difficult to target and can damage friendly Autobots and Mini-Cons by accident.
