Nikolai Kamanin

Nikolai Petrovich Kamanin (October 5(18), 1908 - March 11, 1982) was a Soviet military figure and pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union (April 20, 1934).

Kamanin was head of training at the cosmonaut base on Star City (in Russia). Among his recruits were Yuri Gagarin, Gherman Titov and Alexei Leonov.
