Nina Garcia, born in Colombia in South America, is the head of fashion department at Elle magazine as well as a judge for the reality television show Project Runway. In her job as the head of the fashion department Garcia heads a staff of about 20 editors and assistants, with whom she works to develop stories and layouts featuring new trends in both fashion and accessories. She was also featured on the March 6,2006 episode of The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch with some of the season two contestants.
