No. 292 Squadron RAAF

No. 292 Squadron is a Royal Australian Air Force operational conversion unit based at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
No. 292 Squadron was initially formed on 1 January 1977 as the Maritime Analysis Training School. The Squadron was re-named No. 292 Squadron on 27 October 1980.
Throughout its history the role of No. 292 Squadron has been to provide operational conversion training on the P-3 Orion to RAAF aircrew. After completing their training with No. 292 Squadron, aircrew are posted to either No. 10 Squadron or No. 11 Squadron. No. 292 Squadron also has a secondary role of providing air transport using Orion aircraft.
