No. 71 Squadron was a Royal Australian Air Force maritime patrol squadron of World War II.
No. 71 Squadron was formed at Lowood in Queensland on 26 January 1943. Equipped with Avro Anson aircraft the Squadron conducted anti-submarine patrols and convoy escort missions off eastern Australia. Almost all of these flights were uneventful, though an aircraft from the squadron made an unsuccessful attack on a Japanese submarine on 17 March 1943. In line with the reduction of Axis naval activity in Australian waters No. 71 Squadron was disbanded at Coffs Harbour on 28 August 1944.
