As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 150,823 and the density of 1,456.66 persons per km². The total area is 103.54 km².
The city was founded on May 3, 1950.
Kikkoman Corporation's headquarters are in Noda. Amongst Westerners, the city is also famous as the centre of Bujinkan Ninjutsu.
