Encyclopedia : N : NO : NOR : Normanby, Middlesbrough
Normanby is an area in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It is part of the Greater Middlesbrough conurbation but is not within the borough of Middlesbrough itself. It is historically part of the parish of Eston. During the late 1800's Normanby was under the local government of the Middlesbrough Rural Sanitary Authority/District and was placed within the County Borough of Middlesbrough for this reason alone. It remained independant of Middlesbrough council's control and its Municipal services as it was part of the Greater Eston Urban District. It has a population of approximately 7,000 residents.
