North Country Trail

The North Country Trail, more formally the "North Country National Scenic Trail," is a more than 4,000-mile long-distance hiking trail being developed that begins near Lake Champlain in New York State, and traverses New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
In New York, it joins up with the Finger Lakes Trail for much of its length.
In Ohio, it largely coincides with the Buckeye Trail as it loops around much of the state, and also coincides with the American Discovery Trail in southern Ohio.
The North Country Trail follows the Superior Hiking Trail along the north shore of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota, and then cuts across the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness along the Border Route and Kekekabic hiking trails. The NCT also passes through Itasca State Park near the headwaters of the Mississippi River in central Minnesota.
The North Country Trail is a non-motorized foot trail.
To date, more than 1,700 miles of the more than 4,000 have been located off-road, and the eventual goal is to relocate the entire trail off-road.
