North Manchester is a town in Wabash County, Indiana, United States. The population was 6,260 at the 2000 census.
Geography
North Manchester is located at (41.003951, -85.772573)[Geographic references#1GR1].According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 9.3 km² (3.6 mi²), all land.
Demographics
As of the census[Geographic references#2GR2] of 2000, there were 6,260 people, 2,192 households, and 1,374 families residing in the town. The population density was 669.5/km² (1,735.5/mi²). There were 2,327 housing units at an average density of 248.9/km² (645.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.15% White, 0.93% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.83% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.80% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.74% of the population.There were 2,192 households out of which 26.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.85.
In the town the population was spread out with 17.8% under the age of 18, 21.9% from 18 to 24, 20.1% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 81.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $35,448, and the median income for a family was $46,781. Males had a median income of $31,795 versus $23,388 for females. The per capita income for the town was $17,140. About 4.8% of families and 8.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.9% of those under age 18 and 5.0% of those age 65 or over.

- Thomas R. Marshall (1854-1925), Governor of Indiana (1909-1913) and Vice President of the United States (1913-1921), was born in North Manchester.
