North Miami Senior High School [NMSHS], is a secondary school located 800 NE 137th St in North Miami, Florida; its current principal is Carnell A. White.
North Miami Senior High School's construction started in 1951 for the students of the North Miami area. The school first opened its gates in August 1954. The class of '55 was the first graduating class.
North Miami's main atheltic rival is North Miami Beach Senior High School.
Programs
- IB, North Miami Senior High School is known for its IB Program. IB short for International Baccalaureate, offers many opportunities to its students. North Miami Senior High School has been an IB World School since January 1990. It offers the IB Diploma Programme. The school is state funded.
- JROTC is also offered at NMSH.
Sports
North Miami Senior High School offers:Junior Varsity & Varsity is offered for all sports. In addition, girls can participate in almost every sport.
The school has two mascots: The Pioneers & The Swamp Dogs.
Famous Alumni
Cool & Dre - Andre Lyon & Marcello Valenzano; both members of the production team Cool & Dre, graduated from North Miami Senior High School.
Test Scores
North Miami Senior High School was given a grade of "D" by the Florida Department of Education in 2005-2006. In 2004-2005, this school received a "D".
