Northern Star was the first solo album released by Spice Girl Melanie C. It was released in 1999.
The album contains significant elements of rock music, which contrasted with the pop sound of the Spice Girls. It was reasonably well received by critics, and seemed to confirm the common belief that Melanie was the most vocally talented of the group.
It sold an excess of 900.000 copies (3 x Platinum)in the uk.
