Nottingham Rugby Football Club are a rugby union club representing Nottingham currently playing in Beeston on the outskirts of the city. Nicknamed the Green & Whites, Nottingham are members of National Division One
The club currently play at Ireland Avenue but are preparing to move to new ground at Lady Bay in West Bridgford in 2006. The move will mean that all of Nottingham's major sporting clubs (Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Nottinghamshire CCC and the Nottingham Panthers) will be based within only a short distance of one another.
They will play five home games at the start of the 2006-07 season at Notts County's Meadow Lane stadium while work on the Lady Bay ground is completed. It is likely that Nottingham Rugby Club will play all it's games at Meadow Lane for the foreseeable future following discussions between the two clubs. Meadow Lane is seen as a natural choice as it has a capacity of 20,000 and excellent facilities.
The club's heyday was in the late 80s but the advent of professionalism saw the Green & Whites fall on hard times, narrowly avoiding relegation into the regional divisions in 2003. The club has bounced back since then and was promoted into National Division One the following season.
