O'Gorman High School

Encyclopedia : O : OG : OGO : O'Gorman High School

O'Gorman High School is an English Catholic secondary school located at 150 George Street in Timmins, Ontario. O'Gorman was named after the Church of Nativity's parish priest, Father John Robert O'Gorman. O'Gorman first opened its doors to students on January 6, 1959. Because the Government did not fund Catholic education for senior high school students, parents had to pay tuition fees to have their children learn in a private school. Without government funding, the school was unable to pay salaries, so O'Gorman also served as a covenant for the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, who were a large part of the teaching staff.
