o-Phenylenediamine, also 1,2-diaminobenzene, is an aromatic amine, with formula C₆H₄(NH₂)₂.

In coordination chemistry phenylenediamine is an important ligand precursor, as it is quinoid giving rise to electronically delocalized complexes. It condenses with many carbonyls to give rise to Schiff bases that are of significance in coordination chemistry. It is a key building block in heterocyclic chem, for example, quinoxaline dione are prepared by condensation with dimethyloxalate. Benzimidazoles are prepared by it also. Benzimidazole is the axial base in vitamin b12.

It is isomeric with m-phenylenediamine and p-phenylenediamine.
