O.C., or Omar Credle, (born 1973 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American rapper who has been involved with several renowned underground rap groups.
Background
Credale was born in and moved to Queens when he was 11 years old, living across the street from Pharoahe Monch. In 1991, he would make his recording debut on Organized Konfusion's "Fudge Pudge". By 1994, he had signed with Wild Pitch Records and recorded the seminal classic Word...Life which featured his most notable single "Time's Up". The album was critically acclaimed and O.C. was destined to stardom.In 1997 he signed to another label called Pay Day Records, where he made his sophomore album Jewelz — another critically acclaimed effort which kept O.C. headed in the right direction. By 2000, he was a part of the underground rap act known as D.I.T.C. or Diggin in The Crates. Other members of the D.I.T.C. hip hop collective include Lord Finesse, Big L, Showbiz & AG, Fat Joe, Diamond D and Buckwild. O.C. was featured on the collective's 2001 self-titled debut.
The following year, he signed with JCOR records making his third album Bon Appetit which was not as critically acclaimed and was labeled as mediocre. In 2005, he made his fourth album with Grit Records, Starchild which dropped as an import. Later that year he signed with Hiero Imperium and made his fifth LP, Smoke and Mirrors, which was critically acclaimed.
O.C was also featured on the Clockers Soundtrack as part of the Crooklyn Dodgers, which also featured Chubb Rock and Jeru the Damaja.
He has recently become affiliated with the West Coast hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics, and famed rap mogul Wilson McCutchan.
