OLN Canada

Encyclopedia : O : OL : OLN : OLN Canada

OLN (Outdoor Life Network) is a Canadian cable television specialty channel. Its programming is focussed on outdoor lifestyle and outdoor sports. Programming includes Caribbean Workout, Survivorman, Pilot Guides, and more. The network is jointly owned by Bell Globemedia, Rogers Media, and Comcast; but managed by Bell Globemedia.

Unlike the American version of OLN, the network is not permitted to air major sporting events, such as NHL hockey, per its CRTC license, though it has aired "amateur" events such as the 2000 European Soccer Championships, which is played outside, and it does air the Tour de France.

The channel is also listed as a participant in Bell Globemedia's successful bid for the Canadian Olympic broadcast rights, beginning with the 2010 Games in Vancouver.

The network will not be rebranded as Versus as its American counterpart will be in September 2006. [link]
