OPX

Encyclopedia : O : OP : OPX : OPX

OPX is an acronym for Off Premise Extension. This is an extension or phone that terminates in a location other than that of a PBX. OPX is generally used to provide an employee with access to his/her company's phone system while out of the office.

It is also sometimes referred to as a OPS, or Off Premise Station.

An OPX or OPS, is a conditioned pair usually for voice only. For data, the pair usually needs to be unconditioned. An alarm circuit is an unconditioned pair.

OPX is also an acronym for Open Programming Extension, which is the DLL mechanism of OPL; the Open Programming Language of the Symbian operating system for mobile phones.
