Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, established in February 2005, is a budget airline based in Hong Kong, with its hub at the Hong Kong International Airport. It will commence service in long-haul passenger flights between Hong Kong and Europe, and between Hong Kong and United States in late summer 2006, with Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines is founded by a Pastor, Rev. Raymond C. Lee, and his wife, Priscilla H. Lee. The chief executive, Steve Miller, was founder and first chief executive of Dragonair.

Oasis is Hong Kong's first budget, long-haul passenger airline. Oasis plans to begin offering non-stop service to London Gatwick Airport in mid-October of 2006, followed by Milan-Malpensa, Berlin, Cologne/Bonn (Germany) and destinations in the U.S. (Oakland, Chicago).

Sales are expected to start in early September 2006 through their Web site and travel agents. One-way fares will start at £75 or HK$1,000 (excluding taxes and charges) for at least 10% of the seats available and include warm meals and inflight entertainment.

The destinations Oasis will fly to are all leading budget carrier hubs. London Gatwick and Berlin, for instance, are hubs for the UK's leading budget carrier, easyjet which serves over 30 European destinations. Cologne Bonn Airport is a leading hub for the German low cost airline Germanwings. In addition, Oakland International Airport is a hub for Southwest Airlines and a focus city for JetBlue Airways.

'Selling Point'

One unique selling point for Oasis is planned to be a pay-to-eat service. On board, passengers can order meals and be charged per meal.

The airline claims its tickets will be 30-50% cheaper than other carriers. It states, however, that on-board comfort will not be compromised with the lower ticket price. The seat pitch of Oasis'Economy class will be 32"(similar to many other airlines), and a Business class section will offer 60" seat pitch for business travellers and higher-end leisure travellers.
