Encyclopedia : O : OB : OBY : Ob-Yenisei canal
Ob-Yenisei canal connects the Ket River, a tributary of the Ob River with the Great Kaz River, a tributary of the Yenisei River. The canal was built in a period between 1882 and 1891, but was too shallow and narrow. There were plans to improve it, but they were refused due to begin of the First World War and partially destroyed during Civil War in Russia. The canal, last used in 1942, is now abandoned and has become a boating tourist site.
