"Oceania" was the first single from Björk's Medúlla album. It was written for the 2004 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony, where she performed immediately following the Parade of Nations. As with most of Medúlla, the track is composed purely of human vocals. The song appears to be about having a child, as indicated in the lyrics. Bjork wrote the song whilst she was pregnant, and this was said to have been inspiration for the song and album in general. The video (directed by Lynn Fox) featured a jewel-encrusted Björk in a dark heap of water, with sunlight and swirling creatures above her. A remix of "Oceania" was featured as a B-side to "Who Is It". This remix was by Kelis and featured new lyrics she had written herself.
The song peaked the UK and US airplay charts due to its exposure in the 2004 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. It was also nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 05 Grammy's but lost out to Norah Jones.
