Oda clan (Hitachi)

The Oda clan of Hitachi province were descendants of Hatsuta Tomoie, a follower of Minamoto Yoritomo. Following the Sengoku Period of the 16th century, the Oda were active during the struggle between the Hojo and Satomi clans. Around the year of 1574 the Oda lost their land to that of the Ota. It is known that the Oda clan of Hitachi province beared no relationship to the famous Oda family of Owari province. Their names even consisted of different characters.
