Odvar Nordli (born November 3, 1927) is a Norwegian politician from the Labour Party. He was Prime Minister of Norway from 1976 to 1981.
Nordli grew up in Stange, Hedmark and became a certified accountant before entering politics. He became the first Prime Minister who felt that Norway had become an oil producing nation, getting the income from oil into the state budget. He also had to govern through several tough cases like the so-called double-resolution over NATO and the national conflict over the damming of the Alta-Kautokeino river.
In 1981 he was made fylkesmann (governor) of Hedmark county, a position he held until retiring in 1993. He was also a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1985 to 1993. After World War II he served in the Norwegian brigade, part of the allied forces occupying post-war Germany.
