Ogasawara clan
Encyclopedia : O : OG : OGA : Ogasawara clan
The Ogasawara clan of Shinano province were descended from the Minamoto, and were founded by Ogasawara Nagakiyo, who was a grandson of Takeda Yoshikiyo who served Minamoto Yoritomo during the Gempei War. Afterwards, the Ogasawara went on to serve under Ashikaga Takauji, in which they received more land. Early on in the Sengoku Period, the Ogasawara (currently lords of Fukashi Castle) split into two, one part serving under the Imagawa clan, and the other serving under the Fukashi clan. However, many events would follow in the defeat of the Ogasawara by the hands of Takeda Shingen, in which the Ogasawara had to call on the help of Uesugi Kenshin. However that was only one of the branches that did so, the branch that served under the Imagawa however had better fortune, due to becoming retainers of the Tokugawa clan in the future.
