Ogg Squish

Ogg Squish was an attempt from the Xiph.Org Foundation to create a royalty free lossless audio compression codec. Its original name was Squish, but due to an existent trademark it was moved to Ogg Squish.

The Foundation focus was later moved to a royalty free lossy audio compression codec, now known as Vorbis. This decision was taken after Fraunhofer Society Integrated Circuits Institute intention to issue MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 development projects because of license infringements.
