Ohno Kurobei

Ōno Kurobei (「大野九郎兵衛」?-11 November, 1751) is chief retainer of Banshu Ako (Asano family’s) clan「播州赤穂藩」, and his annual earnings was 650 Koku(石).
He was known as a bureaucrat working on economic affairs.
He demonstrated skill to management and clan finances and Shinden「新田」(New reclamation of a rice field) development, and was promoted to Karou(「家老」the executive) according to the distinguished services.
In 1701, his lord Asano Takumino Kami Naganori 「浅野内匠頭長矩」wounded Kira Kozuke no Suke「吉良上野介義央」 with Wakizashi「脇差」(the short sword) at Matsu no rouka「松の廊下」in Edo castle, and he was sentenced to the punishment of Seppuku「切腹」(=Harakiri), and Asano ke 「浅野家」 was eliminated.
With principal retainer Oishi「大石」, Ohno held consultation in the Ako castle「赤穂城」. Ohno insisted on the surrendering submission, and conflicted with Ohishi and other feudal soldiers who insisted on besieging.
Moreover, Ohno insisted on that it is necessary to distribute money according to annual earnings, while Ohishi insisted it should cordially distribute it for the person with few incomes.
After all, it was distributed it as according to Ohishi's claim.
In the matter of exchange of domainal paper currency, Ohno was opposed to Okajima Yasouemon「岡島八十右衛門」, and he has run away by ship, putting household effects on his house.
Since he was panicked very much, he kept his young daughter placed in the house.
Afterwards, he lived near the Ninna-ji temple「仁和寺」 of Kyoto, and he was called Bankannshou「伴閑精」.
It is unknown when he died but
it is written to the gravestone considered to be Ohno grave in the Matsugishi temple「松岸寺」 in Annaka-city「安中市」, Gumma ward「群馬県」 as 「慈望遊議居士 寛延四年九月二十四日」.
