Oita Stadium or Big Eye is a stadium in the city of Oita in Oita Prefecture on Kyushu Island in Japan. It is primarily used for football (soccer), and is the home field of Oita Trinita. It was built by KT Group, Takenaka Corporation.
History
Oita Stadium opened in May 2001 and holds 43,000 people. This stadium hosted 3 games during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, include two qualifiers, Tunisia vs Belgium on June 10, Italy vs Mexico on June 13, and one Round-of-16 match, Sweden vs Senegal on June 16.Features
Oita Stadium has a retractable dome roof with roof system driven by a wire traction system, similar to Rogers Centre in Toronto.Other Features of the stadium:
