Josef Olechowski was born in 1898. Died 1984 in Toronto, Canada. Polish secret service officer 1921-38. Senator 1939.
Captured by the Soviet NKVD in January 1940 (together with his wife and daughter), he was sent to the Lubyanka prison in Moscow. Later transferred to the Soviet Gulag, released in 1942.
After the end of World war II, Olechowski worked extensively to publicize and have the Russian authorities acknowledge their role in the Katn massacres as well as other atrocities against imprisoned Poles. Married Anna Kurnatowski.
