Omni Air International

Omni Air International (IATA: OY, ICAO: OAE, and Callsign: Omni Express) is a United States charter air carrier, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma that provides passenger service for major American tour operators and for federal government agencies with Boeing 757 and McDonnell Douglas DC-10 aircraft.

History

Omni Air was founded in 1983 as Omni Air Transport and operated Learjet aircraft for corporate charter flights and air ambulance services. In 1993, the company purchased Boeing 727 freighter aircraft and began operating as Omni Air Express. The airline was contracted to provide freight services for Emery Worldwide, United Parcel Service, BAX Global and DHL private postal companies. In addition, Omni flew a large fleet of aircraft for the United States Postal Service. After growing the cargo business, in 1997 the company purchased DC-10 aircraft and entered the passenger market under the brand name Omni Air International. The airline provided charter flights for tour operators including Worry Free Vacations and MLT Vacations. In 1999, the company was contracted by the United States Department of Defense to operate military missions around the world. During and after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the airline provided support services for troop deployment.

The busiest Omni Air International charter route is between Honolulu International Airport and Las Vegas, Nevada. Seasonal winter and summer schedules are often expanded to include Mexico, Caribbean and Florida destinations.
