Omsk Oblast (Russian: ) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast), located in southwestern Siberia. It has an area of 139,700 km² and a population of just over two million (2,079,220, census 2002), with 1.1 million living in Omsk, the administrative center.
Geography
Omsk Oblast is bounded by Kazakhstan on the south, the Tyumen Oblast on the west and on the north and the Novosibirsk and Tomsk Oblasts on the east.Its territory stretches for 600 km in the north-south direction and for 300 km in the east-west direction and occupies the area of about 140,000 km². The major water artery is the navigable Irtysh River.
