One-Winged Angel
Encyclopedia : O : ON : ONE : One-Winged Angel
is a Latin choral track featured in the Square Co., Ltd. RPG Final Fantasy VII. It is played during the battle with Safer Sephiroth and is the first music track in the Final Fantasy series to feature digitized voices. The music was composed by Nobuo Uematsu. The lyrics were taken from the same medieval poetry featured in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The lyrics can be found in the songs "Estuans interius", "O Fortuna" ("Sors immanis..."), "Veni, veni, venias" and "Ave formosissima" ("Gloriosa" and "Generosa"). Nobuo Uematsu has stated in an interview that the intro is based on Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze. This interview can be found on the second disc of [[Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children]] in the behind the scenes The Distance.

- An orchestrated version, arranged by Shirou Hamaguchi, was performed for the album Final Fantasy VII Reunion Tracks (with a sans chorus version included as a hidden track).

\"Sairin: Katayoku no Tenshi\"
Translated in English as "Advent: One-Winged Angel", the song is played near the end of [[Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children]], a CGI movie that is the sequel to the PlayStation game, Final Fantasy VII. The song is played over the final battle scene between Cloud and Sephiroth. This arrangement of the original One-Winged Angel was orchestrated by Shirou Hamaguchi, and was played by The Black Mages in conjunction with an orchestra conducted by Koji Haijima. The song features different lyrics than those of the original "One-Winged Angel" from the Carmina Burana, though both versions are in Latin. The style of the song is a fusion of heavy metal and orchestral music.
The wing in question can be seen, after Cloud defeats him a second time with Omnislash (Version 5); there is a large, black, angelic wing extending from his right shoulder. In contrast, in the PlayStation 2 game, Kingdom Hearts, Cloud is shown with one, black devil's wing extending from his left shoulder, which shows the two are diametrically opposed in ideologies.
