Ontario Arts Council

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is a Canadian organization in the province of Ontario whose purpose is to fund professional arts activity. Founded in 1963, it awarded from 2003 to 2004, CAD $29.3 million in grants to 1,379 individual artists and 867 organizations. An agency of the Ministry of Culture, it is directed by 12 volunteer board (council) members, who are appointed by the Government of Ontario for a three-year term (and may be re-appointed for one additional term).
