Ooh La La (song)
Encyclopedia : O : OO : OOH : Ooh La La (song)
"Ooh La La" is an electronic–dance song written by British group Goldfrapp for their third album Supernature (2005). It samples heavily from one hit wonder Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" (1970). The song was produced by Goldfrapp and received a mixed reception from music critics. The song was released as the first single in the summer of 2005 (see 2005 in music) and reached the top five in the United Kingdom, where it became Goldfrapp's first top ten single. It reached the top twenty in Ireland and the top forty in Australia. It gained a certain amount of fame in the UK after appearing in an advert for T-Mobile and was featured as iTunes UK single of the week for the week of February 21, 2006.
Similar promotion for "Ooh La La" occurred in the U.S., as it was featured as a free single of the week download in the U.S. iTunes music store and has been prominently featured in television advertisements. "Ooh La La" debuted on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in March 2006, where it became Goldfrapp's U.S. follow-up up to "Number 1".

Chart performance
On August 8 2005, "Ooh La La" was released in the United Kingdom. The song became Goldfrapp's first top ten single when it debuted at number four on the singles chart, and spent a total of thirteen weeks in the top seventy-five. Outside of the UK, the song was also successful. It reached number sixteen in Ireland and became Goldfrapp's first top fifty single on the singles chart. However, airplay was limited. In Australia it debuted at number thirty-six on the singles chart before falling off the chart in the following weeks. Although the single was a minor hit on the singles chart, the song was a considerable dance hit, reaching the top twenty on the Australian club chart peaking at number twelve, becoming the band's first song to do so."Ooh La La" became Goldfrapp's third single release in the United States. However, unlike throughout most of the world, "Number 1" (the album's second single) was released to the U.S. clubs before "Ooh La La". The song reached number one on the U.S. Billboard dance chart, Goldfrapp's third song to top the chart. In Canada, the song peaked at number two on the dance chart for three weeks.
