Oolong was a very minor railway station on the Sydney to Melbourne main line. Its original reason for being was as a crossing loop, but when the line was duplicated in the 1920s, the station was retained for its sidings.
Level crossing
In 2006, a proposal surface to close the level crossing near the site of the old station. Even though usage of the crossing was very small, perhaps 55 vehicles per day, there was outrage from the local community. [link]
