Opacifier - A chemical agent added to a material, such as rocket propellant, to make it opaque.
One example is Tin oxide (SnO2) which is used to opacify ceramic glazes.
Opacifiers must have a RI substantially different from the systemOpacifiers must be able to be formed as small particles in the desired matrix. Opacifier Can be materials completely inert with the glass phase or inert products formed during melting. Sometimes opacifiers are added to medical implants to make them radio-opaque, i.e. visible under X-Ray imaging. This is especially true in the case of most polymers that tend to be unrecognizable in the body using X-rays.
