The Opel Tigra was originally a small coupé from Opel based on its Corsa subcompact car and marketed from 1994 to 2001. It was also sold as the Vauxhall Tigra in the UK and as the Chevrolet Tigra in Brazil and Mexico.
Two gasoline-powered engines were available, a smaller 1.4 L with 90 hp (66 kW) and a larger 1.6 L engine with 110 hp (81 kW).
Added to the mass-market underpinnings were suspension tweaked by Lotus and smart contemporary styling with an unusual rear window.
Tigra Twin Top
After an absence of a few years, Opel resurrected the Tigra name in 2004 for a new sports car based on the Corsa. The Tigra Twin Top is a 2-seater coupé convertible with a retractable hardtop in the fashion of the Peugeot 206 CC, and it is produced by Heuliez.
The Tigra Twin Top is available with two gasoline-powered engines, a smaller 1.4 L Twinport with 90 hp (66 kW) and a larger 1.8 L with 125 hp (92 kW).
The Tigra Twin Top is also sold as the Opel Tigra in Europe, Vauxhall Tigra in the UK, and sold in Australia as the Holden Tigra.
