The Open'er Festival, commonly called Heineken Open'er Festival in the name of it's main sponsor, is a contemporary music festival held in Gdynia, Poland.
History
2002
The first edition of the festival was held in Warsaw (as Open Air Festival) and starred The Chemical Brothers.2003
The first Open'er Festival in Gdynia was held on Bulwar Nadmorski (The F. Nowowiejski Seashore Promenade) - two kilometers long boulevard, adjacent to the city beach, running at the foot of the Kamienna Góra Hill. The festival starred Kosheen, Cassius and Layo and Bushwacka!.
2004
Festival was held on Skwer Kościuszki, a large city square and turistic wharf located in the city center, with plenty of performing artists such as P!nk, Cypress Hill, Massive Attack, Goldfrapp and Adam Freeland.2005
The two-day festival featured hip-hop, rock and electronic music artists such as included performances of Snoop Dogg, Lauryn Hill, Faithless, Fatboy Slim, The White Stripes, Underworld and The Music. The main stage was built on Skwer Kościuszki, Gdynia for the last time. The event attracted more than 50,000 fans[Cultural Bulletin, Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs] from all over Europe.
2006
The 2006 edition was the first one to be held on the site of Babie Doły military airport, in the north of Gdynia. The three-day event included performances of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Basement Jaxx, The Streets, Placebo, Franz Ferdinand, Scissor Sisters, Skin, Sigur Ros, Manu Chao, Coldcut, Roger Sanchez, Ladytron along with other shows like the VJ performance by Peter Greenaway.
