Oppenheimer-Phillips process

The Oppenheimer-Phillips process or strip reaction is a special type of nuclear reaction.

In this reaction a nucleus reacts with the neutron of a deuterium core but the proton possible that would otherwise lack the energy to overcome the Coulomb barrier.

An example is

12C(d,p)13C.
It was described by J. Robert Oppenheimer and Melba Phillips in 1935.
