Oracle Applications is a collection of business applications all based around a single database.
Written over many years they have evolved to the current release eBusiness Suite 11i which is in its 10th revision. Previous releases includes 9, 10.7, 11.
Key technologies incorporated into the applications are the Oracle database, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms 6i, Oracle Reports 6i,Oracle Discoverer 4i,Apache Web Server and Sun Java 1.4.
Oracle developed the applications from a terminal based VT220 interface to a client server model in 10.7, only to drop this within the space of a year for the Network Computing Architecture. This was a revolutionary concept exploiting the internet/network and thin client computers.
The applications are all written using a standard framework in Java and are integrated with each other.
