Orbita is a Soviet-Russian system of broadcasting and delivering TV-signal via satellites. It is considered to be first ever national network of satellite television. The Orbita system is based on highly-elliptical Molniya communication satellites as well, as on many ground downlink TV stations for reception and delivering TV signal to antennae of TV sets of some local area. The full deployment of Orbita satellite system took place in October, 25 of 1967 when ground downlink stations of some cities of Soviet Siberia and Far East began to receive regular TV programmes from Moscow-based uplink station via artificial constellation of Molniya satellites.
