Ortler (Ortler in German; Cima Ortles in Italian) is, at 3905 m above sea level, the seventh highest mountain in the Eastern Alps and the main peak of the Ortler Group, a mountain range in South Tyrol and Trentino, Italy. It is the highest point in the Italian region of Trentino-South Tyrol, and was, before World War I, the highest point in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was first climbed by a local huntsman, Josef Pichler ("Pseirer-Josele") on 27 September 1804.
