Orville James Victor (Sandusky, Ohio, October 23, 1827Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, March 14, 1910) was a U.S. publisher. He is often said to have originated the dime novel.

In December, 1860, his "Life of Joseph Garibaldi" (No. I, Beadle's Dime Biographical Library) appeared. He didn't invent the dime novel, as he did not become Beadle's editor until 1861, while the first dime novel had appeared in June, 1860.

He married Metta Victoria Fuller, an author, in 1856. She died in Hohokus Township, New Jersey on June 26, 1886.

The now-defunct Orvil Township, in Bergen County, New Jersey, was named in his honor in 1885.
